Cordless VOIP Phones, Well, Stink

Michael Graves, over at the VOIP Users Conference, has a nice summary of the common frustrations he's had with cordless VOIP (SIP) phones. Michael plays with a lot of hardware, is a real user, and isn't selling anything related. His opinions are worth a read.

Thanks for the kind words. And good luck with your HP thin client. I've been using these for about a year and half. They're great for SOHO applications.

Thanks. I tossed Askozia on it, running solely from a USB stick, to test out the t5700 hardware. Hooked up with with Junction and made some calls just fine. Askozia has a slick interface but currently lacks storage which eliminates custom IVR use, custom apps, etc. I'm going to keep an eye on it, since storage is in the works. Next up is Astlinux though I'd really like to be using 1.4 and the Asterisk-GUI so I may see how trunk looks which apparently has 1.4 in it.

I'm digging that the t5700 is basically the size of a slightly oversized answering machine, doesn't make any noise, and doesn't consume much more power than one either. That makes it more acceptable to my wife here at home since, among other things, that's what it is replacing. :)

Thanks for dropping by. :)
